Description
Bring one of WWII’s most feared armoured vehicles to your collection with Tamiya’s 1/48 Tiger I Late Production, a highly detailed kit capturing the battle‑hardened final iteration of Germany’s iconic heavy tank.
Known for its devastating firepower and formidable armour, the Tiger I dominated battlefields from 1942 onward and became the stuff of legend among both Axis and Allied forces.
A Battle‑Hardened Warrior
The Tiger I earned a fearsome reputation early in its service life—one Tiger was famously credited with destroying five Sherman tanks in a single engagement. Its massive 57‑ton hull carried armour up to 100mm thick, and its long‑barrelled 56‑caliber 88mm gun could pierce 110mm of armour at 2,000 meters, making it one of the most lethal tanks of the war.
This late‑production variant incorporated numerous improvements, including additional periscopes on the commander’s cupola and large steel road wheels with built‑in rubber rings, enhancing durability and battlefield performance. Around 1,300 Tiger I tanks were produced from June 1942 onward, with late‑production vehicles serving on multiple fronts.
