The Tamiya The Frog (2005) is a 1/10 scale, 2WD electric off-road racing buggy assembly kit. It is a faithful re-release of Tamiya’s legendary 1983 model that helped define the golden age of RC racing, preserving the signature pink-and-white space frame look while adding vital structural engineering upgrades.

2005 Re-Release Mechanical Upgrades
The 2005 version retains the vintage aesthetics but addresses the notorious weak points of the original 1983 design:
    • Drive Shafts: Replaces the old hex-style drive shafts (which frequently popped out under load) with reliable, modern dog-bone style joint shafts protected by rubber boots.
    • Rear Dampers: The rear suspension shocks were upgraded to highly efficient diaphragm-type oil-filled aluminum dampers for smoother landings over jumps.
    • Speed Controller: Ships with a modern Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) completely eliminating the fragile mechanical resistor-style speed switch.

Required Components to Complete
To complete the assembly kit and make it functional, you will need to purchase the following electronics and accessories separately:
    • Radio System: A 2-channel transmitter and receiver unit.
    • Steering Servo: One standard-sized steering servo.
    • Power Source: A 7.2V NiMH flat battery pack and a compatible charger.
    • Body Paint: Tamiya PS-series polycarbonate spray paint (specifically PS-11 Pink and PS-1 White to copy the box art).
